Holiday Gift Cards

The McSisters are taking this message directly from one of our supporters – Beyond Plastics (https://www.beyondplastics.org).  In this Holiday season and the rest of the year too, you can make a difference for yourselves and your family and friends by choosing an alternative to plastic gift cards.

What can you do?

Visit: https://www.beyondplastics.org/publications/pvc-gift-cards and take action!

Did you know that those shiny plastic gift cards at the check-out counter of many stores are made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic? That's a BIG problem because PVC is not only hazardous to both create and dispose of, it's also not accepted by curbside recycling programs and ends up in landfills, incinerators or being illegally shipped overseas to countries where it harms their health.

The good news is that there are two non-toxic, sustainable alternatives that are available to companies now - paper gift cards and digital gift cards.

Will you join the McSisters in reaching out to the leaders of the four biggest gift card retailers in the country (Walmart, Target, Albertsons and Kroger) to ask them to switch from PVC cards to paper or digital cards ASAP?

Send your email now: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/pvc-gift-cards?clear_id=true&source=email&

And there’s more:

Please forward this message to share this campaign with your friends and family and make sure to choose either paper or digital/electronic gift cards as you do your holiday shopping.

If you'd like more information, please check out the short fact sheet from Beyond Plastics explaining the problem and the super obvious, easy, achievable solution to it at: https://www.beyondplastics.org/pvcgiftcards?source=email&
