One of my favorite experiences, when I share with my friends and neighbors about reducing my use of single-use plastic is brainstorming about the alternatives.  One of my friends recently asked me about plastic-free cleaning products.  “What was that stuff you told me about . . . Blue something?”  I told her about my new favorite dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, and toilet cleaner from Blueland.com.

Blueland sells kits with quite attractive metal (forever) containers for the products that are easy to refill.  The refills come in compostable paper bags!! No large plastic bottles to store and throw away and the products work great.  [And, by the way, if we are no longer shipping all that water in the detergent we save fuel and emissions.] The very next day, my neighbor called and now we are ordering products together to avoid shipping costs.

Blueland states on its website that it “is proud to be Climate Neutral Certified starting in 2021” and it offsets its carbon dioxide emissions. According to Blueland: “Our products have helped to eliminate over 1 billion single-use plastic bottles from landfills and oceans since 2019.”  That’s pretty amazing and just a simple change to a product that works great and makes a difference to our world.
