Your vote matters!
The McSisters are taking a break from blogging to focus on efforts to support political candidates who act to protect our environment, our health, our communities, and our democracy.
For example, in the world of plastic, the Biden administration’s General Services agency just finalized a plastics rule to reduce the use of single-use plastic by federal government agencies and contractors. This rule includes phasing out single use plastics by federal food service operations, at events, and in packaging by 2027 and from all federal operations by 2035. The Biden Administration has also taken many actions to reduce the impact of plastic production in low-income communities and communities of color. Because many of these policies, including participating in the Paris Agreement on climate change, don’t have the force of law, they could be abandoned by a future administration. We don’t want to see a return to policies that harm our environment, our health, and our communities and so we are in action to protect our precious planet and continue moving forward. We want to ensure that all children around the world have access to clean drinking water, food security, well managed natural resources, thriving ecosystems, and bodies free of the dangerous chemicals of micro-plastics.
We hope you will join us in this quest.
What can you do?
Continue your great work of refusing and reducing single use plastic.
Research carefully the proposed environmental policies of candidates running for offices at all levels of government and make informed decisions. Vote to protect our precious communities.
